Citrus County Sunset Drum Circle

The Citrus County Sunset Drum Circle is a community event that has been a tradition for many, many years. Every 2nd Sunday about 2 hours before sunset the beach comes alive. Hundreds of people join in a circle to create a local phenomenon. In this circle, you’ll hear the sound of bongos, maracas, harmonicas and drums, see people dancing to the flow of the music, observe children playing happily within the group and watch hula hoops and belly dancers sway to the beat of the drums. This is the best place in the sunshine state to take a swim in the ocean then dance in the sand. BYO chair, cold beverages, drums, shakers, etc. This is a free beach event & open to everyone.

How to get here….

The Citrus County Sunset Drum Circle is located at the beach 8 miles west of Crystal River on Ft. Island Trail road near a beach shelter just before the end of the road. Restroom facilities available. This beach event happens every year from September – May. Attendance varies due to weather.  If it rains, we currently have no back-up location, so drum circle is cancelled that month. If we find a good indoor location, we will inform this site so it can be posted, and if that happens, we may also attempt having a circle again during summer months.

What is a “Drum Circle”

If you have never experienced a drum circle, you should! It is a celebration of life, community, and music. People sit in a circle while playing drums and other hand percussion’s, all while joining in to create an amazing group rhythm. Many believe that they are an effective tool for relieving stress as well as health & wellness. The circle is a fun, exciting and powerful way to bring people together through music. It’s a breath of fresh air in our fragmented stressed out world.
