Davis Island Drum Circle

The Davis Island Drum Circle is a free community event that has been a tradition for along time. Every Sunday a few hours before sunset the beach comes alive. Hundreds of people join in a circle to create a local phenomenon. In this circle, you’ll hear the sound of bongos, maracas, harmonicas and drums. all while seeing people dancing to the flow of the music, observe children playing happily within the group and watch hula hoops and belly dancers sway to the beat of the drums. This is the best place in the sunshine state to take a swim in the ocean then dance in the sand. BYO chair, cold beverages, drums, shakers, etc. This is a free beach event & open to everyone.

The Tampa – Davis Island Drum Circle meets every Sunday at 5PM on the public beach at the Davis Island seaplane basin in Tampa (next to Peter O Knight Airport).  Contact: Linda Harrington Parrish. Manager, Spine Care Clinic at Northside Hospital. Email: linda.parrish(at)HCAHealthcare.com

What is a “Drum Circle”

If you have never experienced a drum circle, you should! It is a celebration of life, community, and music. People sit in a circle while playing drums and other hand percussion’s, all while joining in to create an amazing group rhythm. Many believe that they are an effective tool for relieving stress as well as health & wellness. The circle is a fun, exciting and powerful way to bring people together through music. It’s a breath of fresh air in our fragmented stressed out world.
